Common Name: American Elm
| Large American Elms are nearly all gone from their native range due to Dutch Elm disease that decimated them in the mid-20th century. It is naturally a handsome vase-shaped giant, and can still be grown in the West, where the disease never gained a foothold because the few trees in landscapes were so widely dispersed.
