Common Name: Air Plant
Tillandisia is a genus in the family Bromeliaceae native to the warm climates of North and South America. They are classified as epiphytes, or air plants, because they use their roots to attach themselves to rocks and trees, absorbing any required nutrients and moisture through their leaves. They require no soil and can be placed anywhere with enough moisture and bright, indirect sunlight. Air plants come in varying shapes, sizes, colors and textures. Tillandias will bloom regularly, but are sensitive to frost.
