Common Name: Dark American Arborvitae
Narrow, pyramidal evergreen displaying dense emerald green foliage. Holds its foliage color throughout winter. Excellent medium to large hedge or screening plant. Evergreen. Needs regular watering - weekly, or more often in extreme heat. The dark green of this conifer makes a solid statement in the winter landscape, and acts as a foil to blooming shrubs and perennials the rest of the year. Plant it as a tall accent in the lawn or use a row as a screen. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. For a tidy, neat appearance, shear annually to shape. (Monrovia)
