Common Name: Yak Rhododendron
The species was found originally on the southern Japanese island of Yakushima. The name is commonly shortened to 'Yaku' and has parented many varieties with white flowers to darker red. The common characteristic that makes this plant so popular is its compact size and think indumentum on the underside of the leaves, giving the plant a year round interest.
