Common Name: Mint Truffle Bosnian Pine
Pinus heldreichii 'Mint Truffle' is a dwarf, broadly upright selection of Bosnian pine with incurved branching and an ovate- or pear-shaped outline. It originated as a seedling selected in the late 1990s at Iseli Nursery in Boring, Oregon. The needles measure (3 to 3.5 inches (75 - 90 mm) long, borne all along the shoots, creating a densely clothed appearance. Iseli nursery describes the overall visual effect as that of a "broad teardrop" rather than a "large gourmet mint truffle." After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 6 feet (2 m) tall and 4 feet (1.2 m) wide, an annual growth rate of 6 to 8 inches (15 - 20 cm). (American Conifer Society)
