Common Name: Taylor's Sunburst Lodgepole Pine
Bright golden "torches" adorn this shrubby pine and herald spring! Found in the Colorado Rockies, it prefers the drained, poorer soils. 'Taylor's Sunburst' is not an easily grafted cultivar, but the significant "burst" of golf that lasts a month or longer at the end of a long winter adds value to this cultivar. A source says this one takes off when the Pinus contorta 'Chief Joseph' dims its light. Once the bright golden new growth hardens, the color is green. (J Farms LLC)
