Common Name: Firestarter® Tupelo, Black Gum or Sour Gum
Firestarter® Tupelo jumpstarts the fall color parade when its dark green foliage turns intensely dark red, coloring earlier in autumn than most cultivars. Symmetrical, upsweeping branches and a strong central leader contribute to the remarkable neat and uniform appearance of the relatively narrow tupelo that's well suited for street tree use. Fruitless character makes it a low maintenance choice for planting near sidewalks and other paved areas.
