Common Name: Spaeth's Purple Beech
Slightly smaller than the massive River's Beech, Spaeth's Purple is prized for it's wavy edged, dark maroon leaves that hold their deep color through most of the summer. The foliage also emerges a week later and thus avoids some late frosts. It's upright oval shape slowly grows into a stately specimen suitable for a sweeping lawn. (Sester Farms)
