As you can see from this photo, I have had this cultivar growing on the place for many years and until lately was spectacularly unimpressed. It struck me as pointless to have a weeping tree that had a palmate leaf, but this year I reexamined my jugdement and found it wrong. I waited for the leaves to fall so that you would see the structure of this lovely cultivar. As I mentioned the green leaf is small and regularly palmate.

Jiro shidare is a cascading form of green palmatum and it retains its palmatum-like leaves. While Jiro shidare is not a dissectum, its cascading growth habit puts it in the laceleaf group. The fall color is a bright yellow and orange. It's shape is wider than the similar Ryu sen.

PALMATUM, green. A cascading form with green leaves of medium size. As a young tree the plant is somewhat upright. As it matures, it begins to droop, sometimes all the way back down to the ground. It has a very lacy appearance and good fall color is a beautiful crimson-red.

A lacy mushroom!, this 6-8' mound is formed by 7-9 lobed leaves widely spaced on slender cascading branches; green in summer, it turns to striking yellows and reds in fall. Sun-PSh/Med
