I wish I had taken a picture of a mature tree because this is an ideal tree, in the Platonic sense. It has shiny clean green medium-sized leaves in the summer and bright orange fall color. The tree itself will get maybe 15' and is round headed and regular--just a great looking tree. zone 5.

Hogyoku is a compact formal upright palmatum with rich glossy green foliage. The fall color is an outstanding orange and red. Hogyoku makes an attractive specimen growing up to 18’, and will be taller than it will be wide. (A jewel)

AMOENUM, green. Brilliant orange fall color. Leaves are bright green in summer with a slightly down-turned tip. A most attractive small tree. The radiating warmth of orange-yellow fall color is the outstanding feature of this maple. Compact growth responds well to pruning.

Jewel is the translation of the name and a very rich pumpkin orange jewel it is in the fall landscape. Upright small tree to 15 ft.
