One of the larger forms, selected as being outstanding by the well known rhododendron authority David Leach. The large flowers are apple blossom pink and turn snowy white. Luscious foliage is covered on the underside with woolly golden honey brown indumentum. When the new growth occurs after the flowers fall, it is covered with soft white wool which gradually washes off of the upper side of the leaves as it turns golden brown on the lower leaf surface.

This R. yakushimanum selection offers bright pink buds, ball-shaped trusses of purplish-pink flowers that mature pure white, silvery new growth, and relatively large leaves covered beneath with fawn indumentum. Midseason bloom. Vigorous by the standards of the species, with a broad spreading habit.
