A rare and hard to find, lovely grass for part to full shade, the leaves striped in green and white on arching stems. Slow-growing, to only 12-15" tall in clumps a bit wider, these add grace and texture to the shady garden with rich soil and consistent summer moisture. Tiny green flowers are hardy noticeable in the late summer. Frost hardy to -10 °F, USDA zone 6.

The white-variegated hakone grass has been unjustly overshadowed by its gold-leaved kin. Its handsome striped foliage provides a bright accent in a shady garden. The effect is similar to that of ribbon grass (phalaris), without the invasive tendency. Grows larger than 'Aureola'.

Soft mounds of green and white bamboo-like leaves on 16" tall x 24" wide clumping grass. Wonderful colors in autumn.
