This small bushy tree has dainty stems and broader leaves than other hornbeams. The young leaves emerge bright red and change to green with time and then develop an especially attractive deep orange in the fall.

The small, toothed ; pointed leaves of this neat, rounded 15-25' shrub/tree open red(!) in spring ; then turn an attractive burnt-orange in fall; a fine ; unusual addition to gardens small or large. Sun-PSh/Med
