Plant Details
Actinidia kolomikta
Width: Maximum 18 feet
Actinidia kolomikta is an elegant twining vine grown for its colorful foliage. The leaves emerge with a bronzy flush and then open to green with a large splash of white on the tip that will deepen to pink. At it best in shade the colorful foliage can brighten the woodland garden. Small creamy white flowers are hidden amongst the foliage in June, and are only noticeable by their delicate fragrance.
This hardy kiwi shows its best foliage color in open to dappled shade and resents hot afternoon sun. It prefers a well-drained soil, but will tolerate sandy and clay soils. Provide regular watering during dry weather. Light pruning should be done when the vine is dormant in winter and early spring.
