The species rufinerve can be relied upon to produce magnificent fall color. This cultivar which will get perhaps 20' is no exception; It is a 'snakebark' so is best planted as an understory tree to prevent the burning of the bark on the SW side. zone 6

Although "the slate-blue flush of its new growth" (Barber ; Phillips) distinguishes this med-sized tree from A.pensylanicum, it has similar 3-lobed leaves (red ; yellow in fall) ; handsome green bark with white stripes. Sun-PSh/Med
