AMOENUM, red. Great size for most gardens. Its rich dark purple-red larger leaves make it stand out as it holds it color all season. It will grow almost as wide as tall. It turns bright light red in fall. Gregory feels it is "one of the better dark toned cultivars." We certainly agree.

This tree will attract attention in any garden. The rich purple-red leaves are spectacular (Vertrees). A strong, round-topped tree to 10' whose long lasting deep color is contrasted delightfully by bright yellow-green seeds. PSh/Med

Some of the darkest reddish black leaves of any of the Japanese maple cultivars make this a spectacular 12 x 12 ft small tree.

The spring color of the leaves of this cultivar is a dark purple; in summer, it changes to a sort of interesting brown, and then in the fall it is crimson. The veins in the leaves are always prominent. The growth habit is shrubby, to 12' tall and almost as wide. zone 6
