PALMATUM, green. Flaming crimson-scarlet leaves in the spring are the outstanding feature of this maple. Very similar to 'Bonfire' and 'Deshojo' but more dwarf in stature and brighter in color. Forms a shrub twice as wide as high. Perfect for container planting on a patio.

The small leaves of this Japanese maple (smaller than most) are a brilliant red in spring ; again in fall a bright or-red; one of the brightest and a good all-purpose small tree. PSh/Med

One of the Corallinum group, I don't think I could tell it from Shishio Improved or some of the others, but this picture from Michael Healy certainly captures the spring color. Zone 5.
