PALMATUM, variegated. Collectors take note of this exciting variegated maple from Australia! It is a cross between 'Shigitatsu sawa' and 'Aka shigitatsa sawa'. Spring leaves boast a cream color with rose-red covering. The reticulated green veins give fascinating texture to the lighter base color. Leaves turn yellow in the fall. Upright and compact.

It is the spring color of the leaves that has people excited about this plant; I saw it in the Oregon sun this summer and it was great; I was afraid that it would burn horribly, but it kept a lot of color; I gather it will tend to stay small: 6-8'. Zone 6

Conspicuous veins of deep-green in deeply lobed ; toothed leaves of cream-edged-with-pink make this 6-8' shrub/small tree an outstanding, though temperamental... as "divas" can be, showpiece. PSh-Shade/Med
