'Kurui jishi' is a dwarf version of 'Okushimo'. Growth is irregular, giving it an oriental appearance. Matures to about 6' by 6'. Its leaf lobes curl upward to give a star-shaped appearance. It has wonderful golden fall foliage. Japanese name means "confused lion."

This cultivar has strongly incurved leaves and supposedly a vase shaped habit; but mine have a sort of drooping wide shape. The leaves are darker green than Okushimo which has a similar leaf form. zone 5.

DWARF, green. Deep green leaves have a star shaped appearance due to the incurved lobes, similar to 'Okushimo'. A slow, stiff, upright grower excellent for small gardens or container growing.
