DWARF, green. Bright yellow-green leaves emerge in spring with brick-red margins making a very striking show on this sturdy little dwarf. 'Kashima' lends itself well to rock garden and bonsai culture since it is so hardy and compact and can tolerate dryer conditions. Fall colors are in the yellow tones.

Tiny in all respects, the 1" leaves of this little gem ; its tolerance of pruning ; some drought, make it perfect for bonsai or container. Slow-growing (to 3-6') with lime-green, brick-rimmed leaves in spring ; yellow fall color. SUN-PSh/Med

Kashima is a green dwarf often used for bonsai; if unfertilized the leaves are tiny, but with plenty of water and fertilizer, this can be a strong growing shrub. Fall photo from Winch.
