PALMATUM, green. This spectacular dwarf keeps the bright red stems and leaf characteristics of its parent, 'Sango Kaku,' but it forms a much more compact and upright plant. A good choice where a mass of coral stems will brighten the winter scene. Will do well in a container.

Fjellheim is a dwarf coral bark maple; it has all the problems (pseudomonas susceptible) and all the beauties of its full sized cousins, Sango kaku, Beni Kawa, Redwood, etc. As one would expect, it is twiggier and shorter, ideal for a small garden. zone 6.

From a witch's broom of 'Sango kaku', this beauty is a half-size (to 9-15' instead of 18-30') replica with spectacular coral bark ; 7-lobed leaves which are red-edged in spring ; gold in fall. Sun-PSh/Med
