Fireglow is one of the hot (no pun intended) Japanese Maples; it is a red leafed cultivar and is thus compared to the standard 'Bloodgood'; it is smaller than Bloodgood and so suitable for the smaller garden; it comes out bright scarlet and calms down to dark red in the summer; it has a regular branching habit and will be no more than 12' at maturity. zone 6. Fireglow is a red upright that was chosen for its true red color. It is slower growing and smaller in stature than Bloodgood, and matures in to a small tree approximately 10’ tall by 8’ wide. Fall color is a good red.

PALMATUM, red. The leaves on this cultivar are very much like the name. They are an intense wine-red that holds up well in summer. This is an attractive, slow growing tree that has an upright growth habit.

Showing excellent sun and heat tolerance 'Fireglow' has many shades of red to reddish purple throughout the season. Upright in form.
