In the spring, when these leaves come out with the delicate veining, you will be enchanted. If you grow the tree in the sun, much of the charm will be lost by the end of the summer. So plant in half-shade and enjoy!

Aka shigitatsu sawa is a variegated upright with outstanding coleus-like spring growth. The leaves fade to green with a whitish variegation. Aka shigitatsu sawa makes a strong stocky tree, wider than it is tall. (Red snipe leaving the swamp)

An unusual color combination: new 7-10 lobed leaves open maroon changing to green with dark veins; tones of pink; red washed over all; a slow-growing shrub, eventually to 8-12'. PSh/Med
